Covid-19 Health and Safety Procedures
We are committed to the safety and wellbeing of our guests and our team. In light of the Coronavirus Covid-19 outbreak, we have implemented numerous safety protocols to ensure that your stay at the Heywood Hotel is as safe, enjoyable and carefree as possible.
Isolated hotel rooms share no ventilation
We have always been proud to be small, but now our small size and unique design offers significant benefits related to Coronavirus safety. Each of our guest rooms has its own ductless air conditioning and heating, which means that venting is not shared between rooms. All courtyard rooms (rooms 3 though 7) have exterior entrances and do not require you to enter a building or ride in an elevator. All rooms have operable windows, excepting only room 5, the Queen Bee room. You can walk from your free parking spot to your isolated room without sharing air with anyone.
Extensive virucidal cleaning and laundry procedures
All hotels areas and guest rooms are cleaned with CDC- and EPA-approved virucidal and antibacterial cleaners. Each guest room is cleaned and sanitized with a multi-step process that includes virucidal/antibacterial disinfection of every surface, and 72+ hour sealed storage of high touch items. Our cleaning products use the same compounds found in typical, CDC-approved household cleaners; they are effective but not scary.
All laundry is done in-house following a virucidal cleaning process using concentrated, eco-friendly hydrogen peroxide. All public areas are routinely disinfected throughout the day. Cleaning procedures are implemented under the watchful eye of our 11+ year senior housekeeper Juanita. Our cleaning and laundry standards meet and exceed the American Hotel and Lodging Association’s “Safe Stay” guidelines.
HEPA air filtration
Each room is equipped with its own personal HEPA air purifier to scrub the air through a multi-step filtration process. Prior to your check in, we cycle the air in your room through at least five full air exchanges — our air has never been fresher! Got questions about our sanitization and purification processes? Employees wear face masks
Employees wear face masks in our indoor areas and are required to wear face masks in our guest rooms. Guests have the option of choosing to wear face masks when in our common spaces, but it is not currently required. Masks are available if needed.
Reduced occupancy and contact
Our small boutique hotel operates with far less volume than a standard hotel, and our Coronavirus safety measures go even further to reduce traffic through our lobby and common areas. As always, our hotel property is reserved for the relaxation of our hotel guests and is not open to the general public.
Hand sanitizer stations
Hand sanitizer dispensers are available throughout the property.
Contact-less registration and curbside check in
To reduce contact at check-in, our guest registration processes are now contactless, and sanitized key cards are ready ahead of your arrival. If you are more comfortable speaking from a distance, you may reach our staff via email, text or phone, and we’ve implemented a guest information system that you can access via your own mobile device. Curbside check in is available by request, allowing guests to proceed directly to their room without entering our building.
Housekeeping provided with your permission only
No one will enter your room without your permission. During our pre-registration process, you may select your housekeeping preference.
Health checks
All staff have received extensive training on Covid-19 mitigation and are monitored for health conditions before starting each shifts. Guests are requested to confirm that they are not ill, do not have a temperature over 100 degrees, and do not have reason to believe they have been exposed to the Coronavirus.
New streaming TV
While it’s not exactly health related, we’re excited to mention that during our temporary closure in 2020, we made several significant property updates including cutting the cord! All rooms now feature Hulu Plus Live TV and the ability to watch Netflix and your other streaming subscription services. Catch up on your favorite programs in comfort and complete privacy!
