Celebrating Back-to-Back MICHELIN Key Awards
The Heywood Hotel, an Austin boutique hotel, is deeply honored to be awarded One MICHELIN Key in the MICHELIN Guide 2025 selection of the world’s best hotels — marking the second consecutive year that our MICHELIN Key hotel has received this prestigious recognition
Just as MICHELIN Stars celebrate restaurants offering the most exceptional culinary experiences, MICHELIN Keys honor hotels that provide the most remarkable stays — places with distinctive character, creativity, and service that goes the extra mile. Out of more than 200 hotels in the greater Austin area, we’re proud to be one of just eight to be recognized in this year’s Guide.
This distinction is a reflection of our entire team’s commitment, creativity, and care in welcoming guests to both our hotel and our city. Every day, we take great pride in helping travelers discover and experience “A perfect 24 hours in Austin.”
We are endlessly grateful to our hardworking Heywood team — our gutsy, can-do, local ninjas — who strive to define new standards of hospitality every single day. We are proud to be 100% local, 100% independent, and 100% committed to our craft.
To our wonderful guests, thank you for your continued support, for sharing your stories with us, and for making what we do so rewarding. And to our Austin community and local partners, thank you for helping us create an authentic, one-of-a-kind Austin experience that reflects the true spirit of our city.
We’re thrilled to be part of the MICHELIN family once again and congratulate the other incredible hotels recognized with this distinction.

2025 MICHELIN Key Hotels: Heywood Hotel in Austin
MICHELIN Guide says, “If a hotelier is going to be a little obsessive about keeping things local, it helps to be in a town with as much creative talent as Austin. The Heywood Hotel is certainly handsome enough, with its mid-century Danish armchairs and its warmly lit polished-concrete courtyard. But behind its stylish good looks is a whole village of dynamic, creative locals, from the hotel’s architects and designers to the management and guest services staff to the artists whose works hang on the walls. (The majority of whom, not incidentally, are women, from the ownership on down to the proprietors of the various businesses that supply the hotel.)
As for the accommodations, even at the entry level you’ll find big, sunny rooms with lofted ceilings, HDTVs, designer bath products, and beds whose state-of-the-art mattresses and fluffy down comforters are as dreamy as they come. An upgrade to the Queen Deluxe, housed in the original bungalow, gets you original longleaf pine floors and a twenty-eight-foot ceiling with a skylight. In the King Patio rooms there’s of course a cushy king bed, as well as extra square footage and windows on three sides for plenty of natural light.
No less impressive is the Heywood’s location. While hotels of a similar stripe tend to congregate around South Congress, the Heywood makes its home in East Austin. It’s just a few blocks from the convention center, but perhaps more to the point it’s smack in the middle of a neighborhood full of artists, eccentrics, excellent restaurants and local shops. The hotel will even provide a free bike to ride, so while the ladies and gents at the business hotels are clipping on their name tags in the elevator, you can arrive — or, if you’re here for leisure, just roll on by — in legitimate Austin style.”
