Texas Monthly BBQ Fest, 11/1-11/2: The weekend-long festivities celebrate BBQ restaurants and pitmasters from across the state with live music, beverages, and food from more than 35 barbecue joints featured in Texas Monthly’s most recent list of Top 50 BBQ Joints.

UT vs. Vanderbilt, 11/1: Head to DKR-Texas Memorial Stadium for a daytime football game.

Quesoff, 11/2: Hosted by Mohawk, Quesoff is an annual celebration of all things queso (Austinites’ unofficial favorite side dish). Restaurants, chefs, and home chefs compete in four categories: Meaty, Spicy, Veggie, and Wild Card.

Austin Food & Wine Festival, 11/7-11/9: At the annual Food & Wine Festival, festival-goers can sample unique bites and premier spirits, wines, and beers as well as watch chef demos from some of the nation’s top tastemakers.

Texas Book Festival, 11/8-11/9: A free literary festival that celebrates Texas authors and books. From author panels to book signings, even chef demos and food trucks, the event is a fun way to connect with the reading community. 

A Charlie Brown Christmas at ZACH Theatre, 11/7-12/28: The classic holiday tale of Charlie Brown, Snoopy and the Peanuts gang comes to life on stage at the ZACH Theatre in Austin. 

Wurstfest in New Braunfels, 11/7-11/16: Head to New Braunfels for the 10-day festival that celebrates German heritage with sausage, beer, live music and carnival fun along the Comal River. 

Austin Studio Tour, 11/8-11/9 and 11/15-11/16: One of the creative community’s favorite annual events, Austin Studio Tour is a free city-wide art tour that offers a behind-the-scenes look at artist studios and creative spaces across Austin. Stay at the Heywood Hotel to be near all of the action! 

Austin Celtic Festival at Pioneer Farms, 11/8-11/9: A family-friendly celebration of Celtic culture featuring music, dance, Highland Games and more, bringing the traditions of Ireland, Scotland and Wales to North Austin for two lively days.

Blue Genie Art Bazaar, 11/14-12/24: Kick off your holiday shopping at Blue Genie. The must-visit holiday market — which operates as a pop-up retail experience — features the works of hundreds of local artists and makers. From artwork to home goods to clothing, and even food, you’ll find something for everyone on your list here. 

Texas Craft Brewer’s Festival, 11/15: The state’s largest annual celebration of small and independent Texas craft breweries takes place at Fiesta Gardens, less than a mile from the Heywood Hotel! Enjoy our free parking and stroll over to the festival for an afternoon of supporting and tasting from breweries all over Texas.

A Christmas Affair at Palmer Events Center, 11/20-11/23: The annual holiday market and fundraiser for the Junior League of Austin returns with more than 200 vendors from across the country selling a wide variety of holiday decor, clothing, gifts and more. 

UT vs. Arkansas, 11/22: One of the final home games for the regular season of UT football. 

ThunderCloud Subs Turkey Trot at the Long Center, 11/27: A Thanksgiving day tradition, the ThunderCloud Subs Turkey Trot invites everyone in the family to join a 5-mile timed run, 1-mile walk, or kids’ K event. 100% of proceeds are donated to Caritas of Austin.

UT vs. A&M, 11/28: Don’t miss the annual showdown between UT and A&M! The traditional rivalry game returned last year, and this year’s game marks the first time it’s being played in Austin since 2011.
